The case of Romildo and his wife, Giulia, whom he had caught with her lover Marcuzio. The three of them were the centre of attraction in the main piazza of the small Tuscan town of Signa. Giulia stood on a raised platform which was surrounded by brushwood ready for the torch. Romildo and Mercuzio stood either side and the three waited for the judgement of the mayor who sat with two judges outside the palazzo comunale. Continental Film Review (1972)
